Regenerative Therapy

What is PRP?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Platelets are the components of your blood that are best known for blood clotting. Blood is made up of 55% plasma, 45% red blood cells, and about 1% white blood cells and platelets. Platelets also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors, which are important in the healing of injuries. PRP is the separation of those platelets and plasma from the rest of the blood, which results in a high concentration of the platelets within the plasma, hence, platelet-rich plasma. Some studies have shown that the increased concentration of growth factors in PRP can promote healing of tendons and ligament injuries

What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is typically the injection of a solution containing dextrose or other irritants, into damaged or weakened ligaments, tendons, or joint capsules. This technique is often used to alleviate chronic pain, particularly in cases of musculoskeletal injuries or conditions such as arthritis.

How does it work?

The injected solution triggers inflammation, which in turn prompts the production of collagen and the strengthening of the connective tissue. Prolotherapy and PRP are considered a minimally invasive procedure and are generally well-tolerated by patients, although multiple sessions may be required for optimal results.
